TARGET SPECIES

Bonefish- Keys bonefish are large. You can expect to cast to fish that are 6 to 12 lbs. and larger. These fish are available all year, although there are certain times that are better than others.

Permit- The Permit is the trophy of the flats, commonly weighing 20 to 40 lbs. These fish are available most of the year. I believe that the Permit fishing in the Lower Keys is the best in the world.

Small Tarpon- These fish are available all year and average between 20 to 40 lbs., these junior tarpon are the perfect practice for their big brothers and a lot of fun on light tackle.

Big Tarpon- The Keys are unique in this is  one of the few place in the world you can sight fish for big tarpon,  these fish average 70 to 150 lbs., this is  big game fishing  at it's best, well as the ultimate fly rod sport.

Barracuda- Large Cuda's average 10- 40 lbs., are most abundant in the winter  months. They do eat flies but the way to catch the most and biggest is with spinning or plug rods,  using top water lures. This is red-hot action, if you think  pike fishing is fun you should try this.

Sharks- Black Tip, Lemon and Bull sharks are great sport on the flats. These fish are available all year  to fly  or spin fisherman and average from 20 to 200  lbs., imagine that in two or three foot of water!

Cobia- These fish are found following sting rays on the flats during the winter  months, they can be a added bonus when  looking for Bonefish and Permit.

Jack Crevalle- Commonly called  the  poor man's  Permit. These fish can be found throughout the Keys and are  hard fighting and a  lot of  fun on light tackle.

Redfish and Snook- You can stay  in the  Keys and fish for these  species  by leaving from Islamorada and  running across  Florida  Bay,  about  a 30  to  40 minutes  trip,  and be in the heart of the Everglades Nat. Park  this is where most of these  fish are found.

Seatrout- This cousin  to the  weakfish can be found in pockets throughout the Keyes but are most plentiful in the Everglades Nat. Park
